Quad City Bix 7, July 28th, 2005

The Bix- what can I say?  Growing up in the quad cities, everyone always talked about the Bix.  Mostly what you heard was “I think those people are crazy- have you seen Brady Street Hill?”.  I definitely no exactly what Brady Street Hill is as I have driven it many times and never thought that I could run up it.  In fact, I never took on the challenge until after David and I got married! We decided to take a trip to the Quad Cities to see family and at the same time run the Bix 7 as well as enjoy the Bix Festival!

Race Day

The Bix is only a 7 mile run so we both knew we could do this!  The main thing was getting up Brady Street!  The interesting thing is that once we started to head up it I don’t think it was as bad as it seemed!  It actually went pretty fast!  From there the course just does a loop and takes you through some neighborhoods and then back down Perry to the finish. The beautiful thing is that you get to run downhill at the end!

Cincinnati Heart Mini Marathon with Family-March 28th, 2003

Heart Mini- Marathon

This was the first race that we ran with my sister and her family (Mike Bellis, Patrick Bellis and Alexandra Bellis)!  David, I and Emily ran the 15k  and 5K and the rest of the folks ran the 5K.  One thing that I loved about this was getting other family members interested in running and getting healthy.  My sister, Kathy was not a runner and wanted to start to workout and get fit! It was great to run with her to support her. I will have to say that the majority of the time we walked and just chatted (but hey we got out there and did it!).   After this we went back to the house and had a great dinner together! I really enjoyed this time and hope that we have the opportunity to do again in the future!
